Farah Jaafar (MY)

Global Advisor, Straits Investment Bank

Farah Jaafar is a senior executive, board advisor, and governance leader who has spent nearly three decades working at the intersection of capital markets, regulation, fintech, and digital assets.

Her work sits in one of the most complex and critical spaces in global finance—where policy meets innovation, and where the future of financial systems is being quietly redesigned. From offshore financial centres, investment banking to emerging digital asset ecosystems, she has helped shape how jurisdictions and companies evolve, how regulation adapts, and how capital moves across borders with trust and structure.

Farah has held senior leadership roles spanning jurisdictional development, regulatory governance, and cross-border financial strategy. As former CEO of Labuan IBFC Inc., she led the international positioning of Malaysia’s financial centre, strengthening its role as a credible hub for substance-based financial intermediation and global regulatory engagement.

She also chairs risk and audit committees, advised on fintech and digital infrastructure, and works closely with regulators, governments, and industry leaders navigating rapid transformation across financial services in Asia, both in the real of international financial centres, risk management and the evolution of digital finance.

Farah’s interest in the evolution of finance sees her advising on governance, regulatory strategy, and financial ecosystem development—focused on one core challenge: how to enable innovation without losing trust, stability, or accountability.

In addition, her passion for gender equality has led her to Chair of the Women in FinTech Group under the Asia FinTech Alliance, where she champions financial inclusion, and the role of technology in widening access to opportunity. She is a firm believer that the future of finance will not just be defined by merely by speed and technology—but by trust.
